Mission

Our Mission statement

The Advisory Council for Licensed Private Career Schools advises the Commissioner of Education on trust accounts, performance standards, the effectiveness and utilization of the tuition reimbursement fund, the efficacy of instituting a fee-for-service system, recruitment bonuses, and other related matters.

The Council is composed of 6 ex-officio non-voting members, including the Commissioner of Education, The President of the Higher Education Services Corporation, The Chair of the Consumer Protection Board, the State Comptroller, the Director of Division of the Budget, and the Executive Director of the Job Training Partnership Council, or their designees. Eleven members are appointed by the Governor, of whom 2 each are appointed upon the recommendation of the Temporary President of the Senate and the Speaker of the Assembly; one each are appointed upon the recommendation of the Minority Leaders in the Senate and the Assembly; and 5 members are appointed without prior recommendations. Of these 5 members, one shall be an owner or Director of a registered business and licensed career school, one shall be a currently enrolled student at the time of appointment or a graduate of such a school who graduated within 3 years of appointment and one shall be a student advocate. Governor designates Chairperson from among members.
